Comparing a NanoVNA with a LabVNA Part 1: One-Port Measurements |

ABSTRACT |
The great development of the electronic industry in high frequency applications and the predominance of the digital world in measurement instruments brought to the first line a new very small, portable, low-cost, easily available, not too demanding in technical and scientific knowledge, "toy" like, constantly under development Network Analyzer called NanoVNA. In this paper a first verification of the software core for one-port measurements of such a NanoVNA is given and a comparison with our conventional VNA, LabVNA, is presented. For this purpose the well known, 50-Ohm box, unknown DUT, measured repeatedly by us for the last almost 30 years with conventional LabVNAs, was used in order to compare both VNA systems results. A first attempt for the uncertainty estimation of NanoVNA one-port measurements using our method of Complex Differential Error Regions, DERs, and their corresponding Differential Error Intervals, DEIs, in polar and rectangular form was accomplished. Parts of this work are already published on the forum groups.io/g/nanovna-users and are now systematically presented here. |
